SEAI Grant Increases: What the New Supports Mean for Homeowners

As of 3 February, new and improved SEAI grant supports are officially in place, making home energy upgrades more affordable for homeowners across Ireland. As of 3 February, new and improved SEAI grant supports are officially in place, making home energy upgrades more affordable for homeowners across Ireland. These changes reflect rising retrofit costs and are designed to encourage more households to improve energy efficiency and move towards renewable heating.

At House2Home, we help homeowners understand what they’re eligible for, manage the full SEAI grant process, and complete all retrofit works from start to finish. Below, we break down what’s changed and how you can benefit.

Increased Grants for Attic & Cavity Wall Insulation

SEAI has introduced an uplift in grant levels for both attic insulation and cavity wall insulation, two of the most effective and accessible energy upgrades for Irish homes.

Higher grants were originally introduced in 2022 as part of energy affordability measures. With installation costs continuing to rise, SEAI has now increased these fixed grants further, helping to substantially reduce the overall cost to homeowners. You can see a full range of grant figures here.

Why insulation matters

Upgrading insulation can:
• Reduce heat loss and draughts
• Lower energy bills
• Improve overall comfort
• Increase your home’s BER rating

These upgrades are often the first step in a successful retrofit. House2Home can assess your home, apply for the relevant grants and complete the works to SEAI standards.

New €12,500 Heat Pump System Grant

One of the most significant changes introduced from 3 February is a new fixed-amount grant for heat pump systems, designed to reduce the upfront cost of switching to renewable heating.

What the new grant includes:
• €6,500 for heat pump installation
• €2,000 for radiator and pipework upgrades
• €4,000 renewable heating bonus

This brings the total available support to €12,500.

Why insulation matters

Many homes require more than just a heat pump unit. Radiator upgrades and pipework changes are often necessary to ensure the system runs efficiently. This new grant structure recognises the true cost of a full heating system upgrade and makes the move to renewable heating more achievable for homeowners.
